Hyundai Pharm, A Novel Diabetes Drug Candidate Development Support from the Government



The Department of Health and Human Services selected HD-2356 candidate (non-agonist PPARr modulator) in type 2 diabetes drug development project as a state-of-the-art medical technology non-clinical business support, therefore Hyundai Pharm (President Yeong Hak Kim) plans to develop novel type 2 diabetes drug effective in reducing weight and improving insulin resistance.

The novel drug candidate (HD-2356) is expected to become the first in class molecule with a novel mechanism of action in which could solve TZD class drug, Avandia (rosiglitazone)¡¯s problem in weight gain and safety issue in cardiovascular problem

Hyundai Pharm, certified as Ministry of Health and Welfare innovative pharmaceutical company hence June 2012 recognized by Ministry of Health and Welfare support business, appointed as New Excellent Technology Center (ATC) from the Ministry of Economy, and once again distinguished for its drug its innovation and excellence in drug research and development.

According to Hyundai Pharm, currently developing novel drug candidate, HD-2356, showed its statistically effectiveness in blood glucose level reduction and weight reduction in animal study; furthermore is expected to become a much improved new insulin resistance drug. It is planned hat with the government support for the next two years, approximately 1.7 Million USD will be invested to conduct non-clinical studies and then carry clinical studies to make a global novel drug.

Hyundai Pharm is accelerating hard to make a result for government business supported project for HD-2936, novel molecule with mechanism of action in GPR 119, with the support of government business and striving in research and development to step up as a diabetes drug specializing company.
